Job Description with Key Skills Required
- Technical skills: Knowledge of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls), software, and cabling. Familiarity with configuration, installation, and maintenance of network equipment, and understanding of protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving: Ability to diagnose, analyze, and resolve network issues quickly to minimize downtime and ensure reliable performance.
- Network security knowledge: Understanding how to implement security protocols, configure firewalls, identify threats, and ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data.
- Performance monitoring: Skill in monitoring networks for issues and optimizing data flow with relevant tools and metrics.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps to support efficient future maintenance.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and collaborate with IT teams.
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset: Precision in diagnosing issues, documenting changes, and optimizing systems for security and performance.
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).
