Associate Electrical Engineer – Execution (Data Center Construction)
Oversee on-site electrical execution and quality control for mission-critical data center construction projects, ensuring proper installation of power distribution and backup systems. Manage day-to-day coordination of electrical contractors, verifying installation compliance with approved electrical drawings, NEC requirements, and data center tier standards. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress of medium voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, busway, cable tray, and critical power distribution infrastructure. Review and approve electrical contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and equipment cut sheets to ensure alignment with design specifications and client standards. Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT) for critical electrical equipment and coordinate delivery logistics to meet construction sequencing requirements. Lead pre-commissioning activities including megger testing, hi-pot testing, protective relay calibration, load bank testing, and integrated systems testing to validate electrical performance. Monitor construction schedule compliance for electrical scope, identifying critical path impacts and implementing corrective actions to maintain project milestones. Facilitate coordination between electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire protection contractors to resolve interface conflicts and ensure seamless system integration. Enforce rigorous safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures given the high-voltage nature of data center electrical systems and operational risk exposure. Maintain detailed construction records including test reports, commissioning data, punch lists, and as-built documentation for client turnover. Requires hands-on experience with data center electrical systems, strong knowledge of power distribution architecture (2N, N+1 redundancy), ability to interpret single-line diagrams and complex electrical drawings, excellent troubleshooting skills, and capability to manage high-pressure construction environments where reliability and uptime are paramount.
