Job Summary:
Merlis Hotels Coimbatore is looking for a passionate and skilled Commis I – Bakery to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate should have experience in preparing breads, pastries, cakes, desserts, and other baked goods while maintaining the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and food safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and desserts as per standard recipes.
- Assist in daily bakery production and mise en place.
- Ensure consistency in product quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the Chef of ingredient requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the bakery section in accordance with HACCP standards.
- Properly store ingredients and finished products to minimize wastage.
- Operate bakery equipment safely and report any maintenance issues.
- Support the Bakery Chef in new product development and special orders.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or Culinary Arts preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in the bakery section of a reputed hotel, bakery, or pastry kitchen.
- Good knowledge of bakery production, pastry techniques, and food safety standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Experience in a 5-star hotel is preferred.
- Knowledge of the regional language (Tamil) is an added advantage.
