Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Industrial Relations (IR) Manager to oversee employee relations, statutory compliance, labor welfare, and union management across plantation operations in Wayanad. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of labor laws, industrial relations practices, and grievance handling. Candidates with prior experience in plantation, tea, coffee, rubber, spice, or other estate operations will be highly preferred.
Key ResponsibilitiesIndustrial Relations & Employee Relations
- Maintain harmonious industrial relations across plantation operations.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with employees, workers, trade unions, and management.
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct domestic enquiries and support disciplinary proceedings in accordance with labor laws.
- Ensure effective communication between management and workforce.
Union & Labor Management
- Lead negotiations with labor unions and worker representatives.
- Represent the organization during wage settlements, collective bargaining discussions, and labor-related meetings.
- Address labor disputes and ensure timely resolution of industrial issues.
- Coordinate with labor authorities and government departments as required.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and statutory regulations, including:
- Plantation Labour Act
- Industrial Disputes Act
- Factories Act (where applicable)
- Minimum Wages Act
- Payment of Wages Act
- EPF & ESI regulations
- Contract Labour Act
- Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act (where applicable)
- Maintain statutory registers, records, licenses, and returns.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and audits.
Welfare & Community Relations
- Oversee employee welfare initiatives, housing, medical facilities, education, and other welfare programs within plantation estates.
- Coordinate with local communities and stakeholders to foster positive relations.
- Monitor compliance with welfare requirements under plantation labor regulations.
HR Support
- Support manpower planning and workforce management.
- Assist in policy implementation and employee engagement activities.
- Provide guidance to estate managers and department heads on labor law matters.
Qualifications
- MBA / MSW / MHRM / Post Graduate Degree in Human Resources, Labour Welfare, Industrial Relations, or related field.
- Degree in Law will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in Industrial Relations and Labour Management.
- Prior experience in plantation, tea estates, coffee estates, rubber plantations, spice plantations, or similar agricultural operations is highly preferred.
- Experience in handling unionized workforce is mandatory.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and industrial relations practices.
- Expertise in union negotiations and collective bargaining.
- Excellent conflict resolution and grievance handling skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a plantation environment.
- Proficiency in Malayalam and English; knowledge of Tamil is an added advantage.
Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
