Job Summary:
The Consultant Medical Gastroenterologist is responsible for the diagnosis and medical management of gastrointestinal (GI), hepatobiliary, and pancreatic disorders. The role involves performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, supporting laparoscopic surgical teams with pre- and post-operative care, and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Care & Patient Management:
- Diagnose and manage GI disorders (acid peptic disease, IBD, liver diseases, pancreatitis, GI bleeding, etc.)
- Conduct OPD consultations, inpatient rounds, and follow-ups
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings
- Manage acute and chronic GI conditions
Endoscopic Procedures:
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as:
- Upper GI Endoscopy (OGD)
- Colonoscopy
- Sigmoidoscopy
- ERCP (preferred)
- Perform biopsies, polypectomy, hemostasis, and stenting (as applicable)
- Ensure patient safety before, during, and after procedures
Laparoscopic Surgical Support:
- Provide pre-operative GI evaluation for laparoscopic surgeries
- Optimize patients with GI or liver conditions prior to surgery
- Assist in post-operative management (ileus, leaks, GI complications)
- Collaborate with laparoscopic surgeons for integrated care
Emergency Management:
- Manage GI emergencies such as:
- Upper/lower GI bleeding
- Acute pancreatitis
- Obstructive jaundice
- Perform emergency endoscopic interventions when required
Patient Counseling & Education:
- Explain diagnosis, procedures, risks, and treatment plans
- Counsel patients on diet, lifestyle, and disease management
- Provide post-procedure and discharge guidance
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
- Work closely with surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and dietitians
- Participate in clinical discussions and case reviews
- Coordinate care for complex GI and hepatobiliary cases
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate clinical records and procedure notes
- Document endoscopy findings with images/videos
- Ensure timely reporting and communication with treating teams
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹200,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per month
