Job Summary
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment within the hospital. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply to critical patient care areas while maintaining compliance with electrical safety standards, hospital policies, and statutory regulations. The Electrician must respond promptly to electrical emergencies to ensure patient safety and continuous hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Maintenance
- Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, switchboards, distribution panels, and electrical circuits.
- Replace defective electrical components, including switches, sockets, circuit breakers, fuses, relays, and contactors.
- Maintain lighting systems throughout the hospital, including emergency lighting.
2. Power Distribution
- Monitor and maintain the hospital's electrical distribution network.
- Ensure uninterrupted electrical supply to critical departments such as:
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Operation Theatres (OT)
- Emergency Department
- Cath Lab
- Laboratory
- Radiology
- Pharmacy
- Blood Bank
- Medical Gas Plant
- Identify and rectify electrical faults promptly.
3. Generator & Backup Power Systems
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of diesel generators (DG Sets).
- Monitor Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) operations.
- Conduct routine generator testing and record results.
- Ensure uninterrupted emergency power during utility outages.
4. UPS and Critical Power Systems
- Monitor UPS systems supplying critical medical equipment.
- Report abnormalities immediately.
- Coordinate repairs with vendors whenever required.
5. Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to maintenance plans.
- Maintain maintenance logs and inspection records.
- Ensure calibration schedules are followed where applicable.
6. Troubleshooting
- Diagnose electrical faults efficiently.
- Restore services with minimal downtime.
- Coordinate with biomedical engineers when electrical issues affect medical equipment.
7. Installation Work
- Install electrical wiring and fixtures for new hospital areas.
- Install lighting fixtures, exhaust fans, electrical outlets, and electrical accessories.
- Support electrical infrastructure during renovation and expansion projects.
8. Safety Compliance
- Follow electrical safety procedures at all times.
- Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and hospital safety policies.
- Report hazardous electrical conditions immediately.
9. Documentation
- Maintain:

- Coordinate with:

11. Inventory Management
- Monitor electrical spare parts inventory.
- Request replacement materials before stock depletion.
- Ensure proper storage of electrical components and tools.
12. Emergency Response
- Respond immediately to electrical failures and emergency calls.
- Attend on-call duties during nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Assist during fire alarms, disaster management, and emergency preparedness activities.
QualificationsEssential
- ITI in Electrician Trade (NCVT/SCVT) or equivalent.
Preferred
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Valid Electrical Wireman/Electrician License (where required by local regulations).
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience as an electrician.
- Hospital, healthcare, industrial, or commercial building maintenance experience is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

- May require lifting equipment, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces while following all safety procedures.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
