The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced professional to join the Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) Valuation team within EY Global Delivery Services (GDS). The role sits within the Real Estate Valuation capability, supporting primarily EY Germany’s audit (Ch1) engagements and other EY member firms as well.
You will work closely with onshore valuation teams in Germany, contributing to high‑quality real estate valuation analysis that supports audit procedures under IFRS and local GAAPs.
Key responsibilities
- Perform and support a wide range of real estate and property valuation exercises, including valuation of operating and investment properties, valuation of assets acquired in M&A transactions, impairment testing, and valuations for audit and financial reporting purposes.
- Contribute to real estate advisory work such as financial analysis, cash-flow modelling, single asset and portfolio modelling, analytical model reviews, market research, and appraisal reviews.
- Conduct market research and analyse real estate documentation, including lease agreements, building/site plans, third‑party appraisal reports, and financing or mortgage documents. Prepare clear, concise, and well‑structured working papers.
- Take responsibility for the planning, coordination, and delivery of assigned engagements, ensuring adherence to EY’s quality standards, documentation protocols, and review expectations.
- Apply strong technical understanding of valuation methodologies, ensuring robust, defensible, and audit ready outputs.
- Work collaboratively with Germany FAAS valuation teams and other EY member firms, demonstrating ownership of quality, timelines and expectations.
- Opportunities to simultaneously work on business valuation exercises and expand respective skillset
- Support valuations relating to Purchase Price Allocation (IFRS 3), Lease Accounting (IFRS 16), Fair Value Measurement (IFRS 13), and other relevant audit procedures.
- Develop, refine, and review valuation models of varying complexity for international portfolios across different asset classes.
- Provide day‑to‑day supervision, coaching and performance feedback to junior colleagues; contribute to goal setting, development discussions and team capability building within GDS.
What we look for
- Bachelor/master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Real estate, Engineering, or an MBA from a recognised institution.
- 4-8 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years specifically in real estate valuation.
- Strong understanding of real estate valuation techniques, including DCF, NPV, yield/cap‑rate analysis, income and market approaches, and awareness of real estate regulatory and fiscal environments.
- Experience in business valuation, real estate advisory, acquisitions due diligence, asset management, or related areas is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German or French language skills are advantageous for cross-border collaboration but not mandatory.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (modelling) and strong working knowledge of PowerPoint; familiarity with real estate databases, valuation software or industry data sources is preferred.
- Ability to work across multiple areas when required, including transaction support, financial reporting, and internal quality reviews.
- Organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, with a professional attitude and strong analytical capability. Membership of RICS or equivalent professional bodies will be an advantage.
