Key Responsibilities
Thermal System Design & Architecture
- Design and develop cooling strategies for electrical and mechanical systems
- Define airflow architecture including inlet, outlet, and internal circulation paths
- Design ducting systems, ventilation paths, and enclosure airflow management
- Evaluate and recommend suitable cooling methods (air-cooled / forced air / hybrid)
- Support selection and sizing of fans, blowers, radiators, and heat exchangers
Thermal Calculations & Engineering Analysis
- Perform detailed thermal load estimation for components and systems
- Calculate heat generation from electrical and mechanical sources
- Evaluate heat dissipation requirements under steady-state and transient conditions
- Perform temperature rise calculations for enclosures and components
- Assess thermal margins and safety limits
CFD & Simulation (Execution Level)
- Set up CFD models (steady-state / transient where applicable)
- Define boundary conditions based on operating scenarios
- Analyze airflow velocity profiles, pressure drop, and temperature distribution
- Identify flow inefficiencies, recirculation zones, and hotspots
- Support optimization of cooling system based on simulation outputs
Layout & Integration
- Work closely with design engineers to incorporate thermal requirements in layout
- Ensure proper spacing, clearance, and airflow accessibility
- Validate placement of heat-generating components
- Ensure thermal design does not conflict with structural or electrical layout
Thermal Risk Identification
- Identify potential overheating zones and failure risks
- Analyze impact of ambient conditions
- Recommend mitigation strategies such as improved airflow, shielding, or insulation
Testing & Validation Support
- Support temperature measurement and validation during prototype testing
- Assist in thermal performance verification under real operating conditions
- Analyze test data and correlate with design predictions
Execution Support
- Support manufacturing team in implementation of thermal systems
- Assist in resolving thermal performance issues during commissioning
- Update design based on field feedback
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
- Specialization in Thermal / Heat Transfer / Fluid Mechanics (Preferred)
Required Experience
- 2–6 years of experience in thermal design or fluid systems
- Experience in cooling systems, airflow, or ventilation design
- Exposure to industrial / heavy engineering systems preferred
Required Technical Skills
- Strong fundamentals of heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation)
- Good understanding of fluid flow behavior and pressure losses
- Experience with CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent / equivalent)
- Ability to perform manual thermal calculations
- Understanding of cooling hardware
- Basic CAD understanding
