Job Summary
The Endoscopy In-Charge is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Endoscopy Unit, ensuring high standards of patient care, infection control, equipment management, staff coordination, and compliance with hospital policies and quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise all endoscopy procedures.
- Prepare patients before procedures and provide post-procedure care.
- Assist gastroenterologists and surgeons during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
- Monitor patients' vital signs before, during, and after procedures.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
Unit Management
- Plan and manage the daily schedule of endoscopy procedures.
- Allocate duties to nursing and support staff.
- Ensure smooth workflow within the endoscopy department.
- Maintain adequate staffing and coordinate duty rosters.
Infection Prevention & Control
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of endoscopes and accessories.
- Monitor adherence to infection control protocols.
- Ensure biomedical waste segregation and disposal as per hospital guidelines.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Monitor the maintenance and functioning of endoscopy equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain inventory of consumables, medications, and emergency supplies.
- Raise purchase requests for required materials.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records and procedure documentation.
- Ensure completion of consent forms and checklists.
- Prepare daily, monthly, and quality reports.
- Maintain registers for equipment, sterilization, and incident reporting.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and statutory regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
- Report incidents, equipment failures, and patient safety concerns.
Staff Management
- Supervise nursing and technical staff.
- Conduct orientation and training for new employees.
- Assess staff performance and identify training needs.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication.
Patient Care & Safety
- Handle emergency situations effectively.
- Ensure emergency drugs and resuscitation equipment are readily available.
- Address patient concerns and maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM (Post Basic B.Sc. preferred)
- Registered Nurse with a valid Nursing Council registration.
- Certification or training in Endoscopy is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of nursing experience.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in an Endoscopy Unit.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
Required Skills
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
