About OneRoot
OneRoot (ENP Farms Private Limited) is a Bengaluru-based agritech and commodity trading company building India's most farmer-centric agricultural marketplace. Through our app, Markhet, we connect farmers directly with institutional buyers, and we use satellite data and AI/ML-driven advisory to help farmers make better decisions on their fields.
About the Role
We are looking for a Field Agronomist – Who is a local of the Gadag, Gokak, Gudgeri, or Byadgi area and can build genuine trust and credibility with chilli farmers in their region. This is on-ground, farmer-facing role: you will spend most of your time in the field, visiting farms, understanding crop conditions, and helping farmers adopt better agronomic practices. Strong local roots, the ability to convince and influence farmers, and solid working knowledge of chilli cultivation are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Build trust and strong relationships with chilli farmers in your local area.
- Conduct regular field visits to farmer plots to monitor crop health, growth stages, and field conditions.
- Convince and motivate farmers to adopt recommended good agronomic practices and to engage with OneRoot's marketplace and advisory services.
- Convince and onboard farmers to adopt recommended practices, inputs, and OneRoot's farm advisory and marketplace solutions.
- Identify and report pest, disease, and nutrient-deficiency issues in the field, and guide farmers on corrective action.
- Support data collection on crop stage, field activities, and farmer feedback to strengthen OneRoot's advisory and market-linkage programs.
- Travel daily across assigned villages and farmer clusters within the region, using own/company-arranged transport as required.
- Coordinate with the regional agronomy and operations team to escalate issues, share field insights, and support marketplace transactions where relevant.
Requirements
- Must be a local resident of Gadag, Gokak, Gudgeri, Byadgi, or the surrounding chilli-growing belt.
- Diploma, B.Sc., or M.Sc. in Agriculture or a related experience.
- Freshers are welcome to apply; candidates with up to 1 year of relevant experience will also be considered.
- Valid driving license is mandatory.
- Sound knowledge of crop practices, chilli cultivation, and on-field agronomic activities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with and influence farmers in the local language.
- A problem-solving mindset with genuine eagerness to learn and grow in the agritech space.
- Dedicated, self-motivated, and result-oriented approach to work.
