Job Title: Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
Job Summary:
The EHS Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and national regulations, minimizes workplace risks, and promotes a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Conduct workplace risk assessments, safety inspections, and environmental audits.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Organize safety training, emergency preparedness drills, and employee awareness programs.
- Monitor hazardous materials handling, waste management, and pollution control practices.
- Maintain EHS records, reports, permits, and regulatory documentation.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Monitor workplace exposure to occupational hazards and recommend control measures.
- Lead emergency response planning, fire safety, and business continuity initiatives.
- Track EHS performance using key metrics and prepare management reports.
- Collaborate with department heads to promote continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
- Manage contractor safety and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
- Support sustainability initiatives, including energy conservation and waste reduction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor are preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in EHS management (varies by industry).
- Strong knowledge of occupational safety, environmental regulations, and risk management.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001 : 2018 management systems.
