Job Summary:
The Design Engineer will be responsible for developing precise production/technical drawings/3D models, and specifications for custom retail fixtures, furniture, and display Units. Working closely with the design, engineering, and production teams, the Technical Designer ensures that all products are both manufacturable and cost-effective while meeting client and brand standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma/Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in technical design and Production design or drafting, preferably in retail fixtures, furniture, POP displays, or cabinetry.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Sketchup, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of materials (wood, metal, acrylic, plastic, glass) and fabrication methods (welding, CNC, laminating, powder coating, etc.).
- Ability to interpret design intent and translate it into manufacturable solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerances.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and BOM management.
- Experience working with global suppliers or offshore manufacturing is an asset.
- Knowledge of sustainability and eco-friendly design practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate conceptual designs and sketches into accurate technical/production drawings (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software).
- Develop detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for production and site Implementation.
- Collaborate with industrial designers, Production engineers, and project managers to ensure feasibility and functionality of designs.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods based on project requirements (wood, metal, acrylic, glass, etc.).
- Prepare complete drawing packages, including BOMs, for internal teams and external vendors.
- Review prototypes and production samples; provide design feedback and revisions as needed.
- Ensure all drawings meet internal quality standards, industry codes, and safety regulations.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of design standards, CAD libraries, and workflow processes.
- Build product from concepts considering all the design specifications & cost.
- Preparing shop drawings (Detailing).
- Checking on production drawings before sending it to Production
- Analyzing designs and determining required resources and project deadlines.
- Implementing design changes and making contingency plans as necessary.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
