Job Summary
We are seeking a "Warmly Intelligent" Barista to help us bring chocolate back to the cup. At Alpaca, you aren't just making drinks; you are a craftsman of "honest" cacao, recreating the ancient rituals of the Olmecs and Mayans for the modern Indian palate. You will be responsible for delivering a "thick, silky, and real" sensory experience, ensuring every guest finds their perfect "little pause between things".
Core Responsibilities
1. Cacao & Coffee Craftsmanship (The Alpacraft)
- The 4-Step Ritual: Master the "Alpacraft" process for every order: Step 1 (Choose Drink), Step 2 (Select % Intensity), Step 3 (Select Milk), and Step 4 (Add Extras) .
- Intensity Mastery: Expertly prepare drinks across our 8-intensity "Cacao Atlas," ranging from 28% White to 100% Extra Dark .
- Sensory Execution: Ensure every hot chocolate (180ml) and iced chocolate (400ml) is crafted to be "thick, silky, and real," with no palm oil or shortcuts .
- Specialty Brewing: Follow precise brand recipes for coffee variants (Espresso to Iced Latte) and chocolate-based milkshakes to ensure consistency and character.
2. "Warmly Intelligent" Customer Experience
- The Alpaca Welcome: Greet guests warmly, inviting them to "step in and sip something honest".
- Sensory Storytelling: Use evocative vocabulary to "paint a picture" of the experience, describing sips that "coat the palette with warmth" .
- Approachable Expertise: Provide smart but non-intimidating recommendations, explaining that all chocolates 46% and higher are vegan-friendly.
3. Operations & Equipment Stewardship
- Pure Maintenance: Operate, clean, and maintain professional coffee machines and chocolate brewers, ensuring "no cocoa powder" or shortcuts are used.
- Equipment Care: Inspect and report any maintenance issues for smallware and equipment to safeguard our "modern, elegant, and timeless" craft.
4. Cleanliness & Brand Environment
- Space Integrity: Maintain a "warm, easy, and welcoming" space, ensuring workstations and seating areas are sanitized and organized.
- Visual Standards: Ensure the "jagged edge" and Andes-inspired aesthetic of our brand is reflected in the neatness of the counter and presentation.
5. Inventory & Cashiering Support
- Stewardship: Monitor and restock station supplies, specifically our high-grade cacao, milk (Dairy, Oat, Almond), and unique inclusions like pink pepper or sea salt .
- POS Precision: Accurately process payments, ensuring custom cacao modifications and "Add-on" sales are recorded correctly to protect the organization's assets.
