Job Description: SAP BTP CPI – Vertex Integration
Role Overview
The CPI Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and managing integration flows between SAP S/4HANA, the Vertex tax engine, and external systems using SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI).
Key Responsibilities
- SAP S/4HANA to Vertex tax engine
- SAP to external systems, e‑invoicing portals, and APIs
- Tax calculation and data exchange
- Invoice processing and validation
- Cross‑module requirements across FI, SD, MM, and BRIM
Configure and work with adapters such as HTTPS, SOAP, REST, IDoc, SFTP, and OData.
- Government e‑invoicing portals
- Third‑party tax and finance systems
Map SAP invoice and tax attributes to Vertex‑specific formats, ensuring accurate payload structure, enrichment, and validation.
- Integration monitoring tools
- Government tax portal communication
- High‑volume tax processing
- ABAP teams for backend enhancements
- Functional teams (FI, CO, SD, MM)
Required Skills
Core CPI Skills
- Strong hands‑on experience with SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI)
- Development of iFlows, message mappings, and Groovy scripts
- Knowledge of A2A and B2B integration patterns
Technical Integration Skills
- Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, IDoc, Proxy, and OData integrations
- Understanding of middleware transformation concepts
- Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA integration architecture
Vertex Tax Knowledge
- Experience with Vertex integrations (mandatory for niche roles)
- Understanding of indirect tax processes (VAT, GST, Sales Tax) and compliance flows
Experience
- 5–10 years overall SAP experience
- 2–5 years in SAP CPI / BTP Integration Suite
- Background in integration‑heavy SAP–external system projects
Nice to Have
- Experience with SAP DRC e‑invoicing
- Multi‑country tax implementation exposure
- Knowledge of API Management and Integration Advisor
- Familiarity with SAP PI/PO migration to CPI
