HOUSE MOTHER - JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Special Duties
- Maintain petty cash and update the petty cash register daily.
- Prepare and submit statements for advances taken (special lunch, other activities) within one week.
- Supervise children while going to and returning from school:
- Ensure punctuality, packed lunch, books, and proper lineup when leaving.
- Receive children on return, record arrival time, check belongings (books, notebooks, lunch boxes).
- Supervise in dormitories: placement of slippers/bags, changing uniforms, folding/washing clothes.
- Oversee the following:
- Cooking as per the daily menu, ensuring a balanced diet.
- Packing lunch for school-going children.
- Kitchen cleanliness and safe use of gas.
- Work of the cook and housekeeper.
- Garden maintenance.
- Children’s allotted duties.
2. Common Duties
- Assist the Secretary in preparing reports, planning, and organizing programs (carnival, reunion day, week of prayer, special dinners, weddings, etc.).
- Ensure smooth running of the Home in line with its principles.
- Daily responsibilities:
- Ring morning rising bell, conduct morning devotions (in turns), supervise evening devotions.
- Mark attendance in morning and evening registers.
- Maintain timetable, discipline, and overall order in the Home.
- Be present at mealtimes and serve food with the cook.
- Accompany children to church.
- Learning and recreation:
- Conduct Bible and general knowledge quizzes.
- Issue dictionaries, table books, and library books; encourage reading habits.
- Provide indoor and outdoor games and supervise recreation time.
- Teach mending of clothes and handicrafts.
- Safety and reporting:
- Report difficulties and challenges of each child to the Secretary.
- Lock grill gates, office room, meeting room, and terrace at night after use.
3. Child Care
- Build rapport with assigned children and provide individual attention.
- Maintain health, height, and weight records; menstrual cycle records for older girls.
- Make home visits when necessary.
- Ensure punctuality and discipline during study time.
- Visit schools, meet class teachers, and update the Secretary.
- Regularly check books, notebooks, uniforms, and personal hygiene.
- Care for sick children and take them to the hospital when required.
- Identify and encourage each child’s talents.
4. Store Management
- Plan monthly provisions with the Secretary and settle bills with proper register entries.
- Purchase provisions from ration shop/market and manage dry grinding with the help of cook/assistant.
- Maintain stock registers daily and issue provisions to the cook once a day.
- Distribute essential items (oil, soap, etc.) to children twice a month.
Pay: ₹14,000.00 - ₹16,000.00 per month
