Position Summary
The EPLAN Database & Template Engineer is responsible for developing, standardizing, testing, and maintaining EPLAN libraries, master databases, project templates, macros, forms, reports, and engineering configurations. Working closely with EPLAN Experts and Tool Owners, the role ensures the delivery of scalable, reusable, and standards-compliant engineering content that supports global electrical engineering projects, improves engineering efficiency, and maintains high data quality across integrated engineering and PLM environments.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain EPLAN project templates, basic projects, macros, forms, reports, plot frames, and reusable engineering content.

Create intelligent EPLAN schematics and device macros using placeholder objects, value sets, variants, function templates, and advanced EPLAN functionalities.

Manage and maintain EPLAN Parts Database, master data, technical properties, variants, and hardware libraries.

Apply and translate international standards (IEC 81346, IEC 61082, IEC 61355, IEC 60617) into EPLAN configurations, templates, and engineering rules.

Ensure engineering documentation consistency, data accuracy, quality control, and release management of templates and libraries.

Support integration and alignment of EPLAN data with Teamcenter, COMOS, PLM Launcher, and related engineering systems.

Perform testing, defect analysis, validation, and continuous improvement activities for EPLAN content and interfaces.

Collaborate with engineers, key users, developers, and stakeholders to implement standardized and maintainable engineering solutions.

Provide technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and user support to global engineering teams.

Develop and maintain reusable EPLAN macro projects, device libraries, and standardized engineering content for global use.

Create and manage parts, variants, function templates, connection data, and accessory relationships within the EPLAN environment.

Ensure completeness, consistency, traceability, and accuracy of engineering metadata before operational release.

Design and maintain reusable hardware libraries for industrial automation systems, distributed I/O, and control equipment.

Adapt standard templates, libraries, and macros to customer-specific, application-specific, and regional requirements while maintaining a controlled common baseline.

Conduct technical reviews, self-checks, and quality assessments to ensure engineering content is robust, reusable, and compliant with established standards.

Interpret engineering and documentation requirements and transform them into practical EPLAN structures, templates, reports, and engineering rules.

Maintain consistency in device designations, reference designations, graphical symbols, cross-references, document structures, and connection information.

Support test preparation, user acceptance testing, interface validation, and data migration activities related to EPLAN and connected engineering platforms.

Work closely with EPLAN experts, tool owners, domain specialists, and development teams to translate business and engineering requirements into sustainable solutions.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering standardization, content reuse, automation, data quality, and workflow efficiency.

Work Experience
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.

5+ years of hands-on experience with EPLAN Electric P8.
-
Experience in electrical design, control cabinet engineering, industrial automation, power distribution, or plant engineering.

Exposure to EPLAN Pro Panel is an advantage.
Technical Skills

Strong expertise in EPLAN templates, macro projects, forms, reports, plot frames, and parts management.

Advanced knowledge of placeholder objects, value sets, macro variants, device logic, function templates, and master data management.

Experience in developing reusable engineering content, standardization, content testing, validation, and release processes.

Understanding of EPLAN project structures, cross-references, navigators, report generation, and engineering documentation.

Familiarity with enterprise engineering platforms such as Teamcenter, COMOS, and PLM systems.
Standards & Competencies

Strong knowledge of IEC standards including IEC 81346, IEC 61082, IEC 61355, and IEC 60617.

Ability to convert standards into practical EPLAN templates, libraries, and engineering rules.
