Position: IBM Z Mainframe Engineer / DB2 Systems Administrator Lead

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IBM Z Mainframe Engineer / DB2 Systems Administrator Lead to manage and lead mainframe system administration, database administration, and related infrastructure activities. This role involves ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security of IBM Z mainframe systems and DB2 databases. The successful candidate will lead a team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support mission-critical enterprise applications.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage daily administration and support of IBM Z mainframe systems including z/OS operating system.

Oversee DB2 database administration activities such as installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security.

Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of mainframe and DB2 systems.

Coordinate with application teams and vendors for deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Maintain system security, including user access and compliance with organizational standards.

Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

Mentor and guide junior engineers and administrators.

Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.

Plan and execute capacity planning, patching, and system upgrades.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

7+ years of experience with IBM Z mainframe systems and DB2 database administration.

Strong knowledge of z/OS, batch/job scheduling, JES, RACF, and mainframe networking.

Proficient in DB2 for z/OS including performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security.

Experience with mainframe tools such as SDSF, ISPF, and other system utilities.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.

Experience with automation and scripting on mainframe platforms is a plus.
