JOB DESCRIPTION: ODOO TECHNO-FUNCTIONAL IMPLEMENTATION SPECIALIST

About the Role
We are a diversified group of companies operating in Liberia across multiple industries, including building materials retail and distribution, real estate and property management, manufacturing, and other businesses.
We are currently rolling out Odoo ERP across several companies within the group, beginning with our building materials retail business. We are looking for an experienced Odoo Techno-Functional Implementation Specialist who will be based on-site in Liberia and take ownership of our internal Odoo implementation and ongoing development.
This is not purely a developer role. We are looking for someone who can understand business operations, analyze existing processes, identify inefficiencies, recommend the best way to structure processes in Odoo, and then configure or develop the required solution.
The successful candidate will work directly with management, department heads, users, and our external Odoo implementation partner.
Key Responsibilities
Business Process Analysis: Work directly with department heads and users to understand current processes, identify problems and inefficiencies, and design improved workflows.
Fit-Gap Analysis: Determine whether requirements should be addressed through standard Odoo functionality, configuration, process changes, third-party modules, or custom development.
Implementation Leadership: Lead and coordinate Odoo implementations from requirements gathering and process mapping through configuration, testing, data migration, training, go-live, and post-implementation support.
Odoo Configuration: Configure Odoo applications including Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Accounting, POS, CRM, Manufacturing, HR, Projects, Field Service and other relevant modules.
Customization & Development: Develop and maintain custom Odoo modules and functionality using Python, XML, JavaScript and PostgreSQL when standard functionality is insufficient.
Technical Review: Understand and review existing and new customizations to ensure they are maintainable, scalable and compatible with future Odoo upgrades.
Data Migration: Support migration from legacy ERP systems and other data sources into Odoo, including data mapping, validation and reconciliation.
Integrations: Develop or coordinate integrations between Odoo and external systems, APIs and business applications.
Multi-Company Implementation: Support the rollout of Odoo across businesses with different operational requirements, while maintaining a consistent group-wide ERP architecture.
Testing & Quality Assurance: Develop test scenarios, coordinate UAT, troubleshoot issues and ensure solutions meet the agreed business requirements before deployment.
Training & Change Management: Train users and department heads, prepare documentation, and support adoption of new processes.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to improve workflows, automate repetitive processes and make better use of Odoo, analytics and emerging technologies.
Vendor Coordination: Work closely with our external Odoo implementation partner while gradually building sufficient internal knowledge and capability to manage more configuration, development, upgrades and support in-house.
Required Experience & Skills
4+ years of hands-on Odoo experience, preferably combining functional implementation and technical development.
Proven experience implementing Odoo projects from requirements gathering through go-live.
Strong understanding of business process analysis and process mapping.
Strong functional knowledge of Odoo modules such as:
Sales
Purchase
Inventory/Warehouse
Accounting
POS
CRM
Manufacturing
HR
Ability to conduct fit-gap analysis and determine when customization is genuinely necessary.
Strong Python programming skills and good knowledge of the Odoo framework and ORM.
Experience with XML, JavaScript, PostgreSQL/SQL, APIs and Git.
Experience developing, debugging and maintaining custom Odoo modules.
Experience with Odoo upgrades and migrations.
Experience with multi-company and multi-warehouse environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with both management and operational users.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Information Systems or a related field.
Experience with retail, distribution, manufacturing and/or real estate.
Experience with large inventories, procurement, landed costs, POS and multi-warehouse operations.
Experience with reporting, business intelligence, automation or AI-related technologies is an advantage.
Odoo certification is an advantage.

We are specifically looking for someone who sits between a functional consultant and a developer.
The ideal candidate should be capable of sitting with a department manager, understanding how the department operates and identifying the best business process — and then be technical enough to configure Odoo, develop necessary customizations, troubleshoot problems and work directly with the codebase when required.
We value candidates who prioritize standard Odoo functionality and good process design before customization, while still having the technical capability to develop custom solutions when there is a genuine business requirement.
