Job Description (JD) – Sales Executive (Chennai)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic, target-driven, and customer-focused Sales Executive to join our steel trading business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for generating sales, developing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and driving revenue growth across assigned territories.
The candidate should possess strong knowledge of steel products, market trends, customer requirements, and sales processes within the trading or industrial distribution sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Revenue Generation:
- Identify and develop new customers in construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, fabrication, and industrial sectors.
- Promote and sell steel products such as TMT bars, structural steel, coils, sheets, pipes, and related materials.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Generate inquiries, quotations, and close sales deals effectively.
- Follow up on leads and convert prospects into long-term customers.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable steel products.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction through timely service and issue resolution.
- Maintain regular communication with key accounts to drive repeat business.
Market Development:
- Explore new markets, regions, and industries for business expansion.
- Conduct market research to identify pricing trends, competitor activities, and customer demand.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to management.
Pricing & Negotiation:
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules with customers.
- Coordinate with management for pricing approvals while ensuring profitability.
- Support in preparing competitive quotations and commercial proposals.
Coordination & Order Execution:
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and warehouse teams for smooth order fulfillment.
- Ensure timely delivery and proper documentation of orders.
- Monitor payment collections and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Maintain accurate sales records and customer databases.
Reporting:
- Submit daily sales reports, market visit reports, and performance updates.
- Track sales pipeline and forecast potential business opportunities.
- Assist management in achieving strategic business objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of sales experience, preferably in steel trading, metal distribution, or industrial products.
- Strong understanding of steel products and industry dynamics.
- Proficiency in MS.
