Vehicle Inspection & Evaluation Executive

Job Purpose
To inspect and evaluate pre-owned vehicles, assess their overall condition, identify defects and repair requirements, determine fair market value, and prepare accurate inspection reports to support vehicle purchase, pricing, and sales decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Inspection
- Conduct detailed physical inspection of used vehicles.
- Check exterior, interior, tyres, lights, glass, body panels, and overall condition.
- Inspect the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, steering, battery, AC, and other major components.
- Identify accident damage, repainting, rust, mechanical issues, and modifications.
- Vehicle Evaluation
- Evaluate the overall condition and quality of the vehicle.
- Assess vehicle age, mileage, service history, ownership history, and usage.
- Identify potential future repair and maintenance requirements.
- Estimate the expected refurbishment cost.
- Vehicle Valuation
- Determine the approximate market value of the vehicle based on its condition and market trends.
- Compare similar vehicles available in the local and online markets.
- Recommend suitable buying, exchange, or resale prices.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed vehicle inspection reports.
- Record inspection findings accurately with photographs and supporting information.
- Update vehicle details in the company's evaluation/CRM system.
- Maintain proper records of inspected vehicles.
- Test Drive & Technical Assessment
- Conduct or coordinate test drives where required.
- Observe vehicle performance, unusual noises, vibrations, braking, steering, acceleration, and handling.
- Recommend further technical inspection when major issues are identified.
- Coordination
- Coordinate with Sales, Purchase, Workshop, Service, and Used-Car teams.
- Explain inspection findings and valuation decisions clearly.
- Coordinate with customers/sellers regarding vehicle condition and required documents.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure inspections are conducted according to company standards and procedures.
- Verify vehicle documents such as RC, insurance, service records, and pollution certificate as applicable.
- Maintain transparency and accuracy in vehicle evaluation.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of automobiles and vehicle components.
- Strong vehicle inspection and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of used-car valuation and market pricing.
- Good observation and analytical skills.
- Basic computer/CRM knowledge.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to prepare accurate reports.
- Valid driving licence and good driving skills.
Educational Qualification
ITI / Diploma / Any Automobile Course preferred.
Experience
0–3 years of experience in vehicle inspection, automobile service, used-car evaluation, workshop, dealership, or a related automotive field.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Number of vehicles inspected per day/month.
- Accuracy of vehicle evaluation and valuation.
- Inspection report accuracy.
- Identification of major defects/accident history.
- Customer/seller satisfaction.
- Reduction in unexpected repair/refurbishment costs.
- Compliance with inspection procedures.
