Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Fabrication Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of practical shop-floor and site experience in structural steel fabrication. The ideal candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of fabrication processes from drawing interpretation to final assembly and should be capable of independently handling fabrication activities, workforce supervision, quality control, production planning, and site execution.
This is a highly practical role and is best suited for candidates who have built their expertise through extensive hands-on fabrication and site experience rather than purely office-based engineering roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Study, interpret, and execute fabrication, structural, and engineering drawings.
- Plan and supervise all fabrication activities from raw material stage to final assembly.
- Perform and guide accurate marking, layout development, fitting, alignment, and assembly operations.
- Develop and implement jigs, fixtures, templates, and fabrication aids to improve productivity and accuracy.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with drawings and project specifications.
- Supervise fabrication of structural steel components, platforms, hoppers, tanks, ducts, frames, columns, beams, trusses, and custom-fabricated equipment.
- Coordinate daily activities of fitters, welders, machine operators, and fabrication teams.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of jobs.
- Identify fabrication challenges and provide practical solutions to improve productivity and quality.
- Minimize rework, material wastage, and fabrication errors.
- Conduct site visits and oversee erection and installation activities whenever required.
- Train and guide junior fitters and fabrication personnel on best fabrication practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Expert knowledge of marking and fitting techniques.
- Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication and structural drawings.
- Thorough understanding of fabrication tolerances and quality requirements.
- Practical experience in jig and fixture design and implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of cutting, drilling, welding, bending, rolling, assembly, and fabrication processes.
- Experience handling fabrication shop operations and manpower.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership ability with a hands-on approach to work.
Qualification
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Candidates with extensive practical fabrication experience will also be considered.
Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in technically demanding roles on large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects.
Candidates with hands-on experience in fabrication, erection, and execution of:
- Bridges
- Power Plants
- Steel Plants
- Cement Plants
- Refineries
- Metro Rail Projects
- Transmission Structures
- Heavy Industrial Structures
- EPC and Infrastructure Projects
will be highly preferred.
The ideal candidate should possess practical shop-floor and site execution experience, with a thorough understanding of fabrication methodologies, structural assembly, erection challenges, quality requirements, and project execution standards followed in major infrastructure projects.
Salary
₹30,000 – ₹40,000 per month (Based on experience, technical capability, and project exposure)
