Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Associate CAD Designer to join our Design & Production team in Kochi. In this role, you will lead and monitor junior designers, bridge the gap between creative concept generation and 3D CAD execution, and ensure high technical accuracy while minimizing precious metal wastage.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Coordination & Planning: Assign tasks to junior designers, plan project deadlines according to individual capacity, and ensure daily design output targets are met.
- Design & Innovation: Drive team creativity to generate new product lines, staying flexible to turn client requirements and custom requests into feasible final designs within budget.
- CAD Execution & Quality Control: Apply advanced CAD techniques to create accurate models using metals, diamonds, and gemstones. Oversee critical designs to guarantee accuracy in tolerance values.
- Manufacturing & Cost Optimization: Collaborate with production teams and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) vendors to reduce gold/metal wastage and negotiate production efficiency.
- Records Management: Audit job specification sheets for every piece created, manage CAD file backups, and report design progress as required by leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Proven experience in jewelry CAD design (Rhino, Matrix, or equivalent CAD software).
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of gemstone/diamond setting specifications, metal shrinkage, castability, and tolerance values.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to delegate tasks, evaluate individual capacities, and mentor junior CAD designers.
- Attention to Detail: High precision in documentation, file archiving, and specification sheets.
- Commercial Awareness: Understanding of production costs, manufacturing feasibility, and wastage reduction practices.
