Job Summary
ABS enterprises is seeking a skilled and reliable CNC Laser Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain CNC laser cutting equipment (Fiber/CO2) to fabricate precision sheet metal and structural components according to technical drawings and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities :
- Load raw materials (sheet metal, plates, tubes) onto machine beds manually or using overhead cranes/forklifts.
- Select appropriate cutting parameters, nozzles, focal lenses, and assist gases (Oxygen, Nitrogen, Compressed Air) based on material type and thickness.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and nesting layouts.
- Perform first-piece and in-process quality inspections using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors).
- Monitor machine performance, optimize cut quality, and adjust focus/speed parameters to minimize burrs and dross.
- Perform basic routine maintenance, including cleaning optics/nozzles, checking fluid levels, and maintaining 5S standards.
- Document production counts, scrap rates, and machine downtime logs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1–3+ years of hands-on experience operating CNC laser cutting machines.
- Education: High school diploma, ITI Machinist/Fitter certification, or vocational training preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong ability to read blueprints and use standard measuring instruments. Basic CAD/CAM nesting software knowledge (e.g., Cycad, AutoCAD, Raden) is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 kg (50 lbs.) and stand for extended periods during shifts.
- Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to workshop safety protocols, including mandatory PPE usage (safety shoes, laser safety glasses).
