The Role of a Sales Officer
A Sales Officer in an automobile dealership acts as the primary bridge between the dealership and the customer. Operating under the guidance of the Sales Team Leader or Manager, their core objective is to drive vehicle sales, maximize auxiliary revenue (insurance, finance, accessories), and ensure an exceptional customer experience.
Core Duties & Responsibilities1. Customer Acquisition & Lead Management
- Prospecting: Actively generate new leads through cold calling, field visits, networking, and following up on digital inquiries.
- Showroom Floor Management: Greet walk-in customers, understand their requirements, and provide a warm, professional first impression.
- Database Maintenance: Update and maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system with accurate customer details, interaction logs, and follow-up schedules.
2. Product Presentation & Consultation
- Need Assessment: Consult with customers to understand their lifestyle, budget, and specific vehicle preferences.
- Product Demonstration: Walk customers through vehicle features, specifications, and USPs (Unique Selling Propositions).
- Test Drives: Organize and accompany customers on test drives, ensuring all safety protocols are followed while highlighting the vehicle’s performance and comfort.
3. Sales Conversion & Value-Added Services
- Objection Handling: Address customer queries regarding pricing, mileage, maintenance costs, and competitor comparisons confidently.
- Quotations & Negotiations: Prepare detailed price quotations and negotiate terms within the dealership's approved margins.
- Cross-Selling: Promote and sell value-added products like extended warranties, accessories, annual maintenance contracts (AMCs), and in-house car insurance.
- Finance Assistance: Coordinate with the in-house finance team or partner banks to assist customers with vehicle loan processing and documentation.
4. Vehicle Delivery & Documentation
- Paperwork: Collect and verify required customer documents (ID proof, address proof, finance approvals) for vehicle registration and invoicing.
- Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI): Coordinate with the service workshop to ensure the vehicle is clean, inspected, and accessories are fitted before handover.
- Delivery Ceremony: Make the vehicle delivery memorable for the customer, explaining warranty policies, service schedules, and basic car controls before they drive off.
5. Post-Sales Relationship & Reporting
- Follow-up: Call customers post-delivery to ensure satisfaction and resolve any initial teething issues.
- Referrals & Reviews: Request satisfied customers for referrals and positive online reviews to build a robust pipeline.
- Target Achievement: Consistently meet or exceed monthly retail sales targets set by management.
- Market Intelligence: Keep track of competitor launches, promotional offers, and shifting local market trends to share with the marketing and sales teams.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
