About the Role
OMKILKARI Child Development Centre is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The Occupational Therapist will work with infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents experiencing developmental, neurological, sensory, behavioural, and learning challenges.
The role involves assessing each child's functional abilities, designing individualized therapy plans, and providing evidence-based interventions to enhance sensory processing, motor development, self-care, play skills, school readiness, and overall independence. Working closely with paediatricians, psychologists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, special educators, and families, the Occupational Therapist will play a vital role in supporting every child's holistic development and improving their quality of life.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment & Evaluation
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate children's developmental, sensory, cognitive, motor, behavioural, and functional abilities.
- Assess fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, sensory processing, visual perception, visual-motor integration, handwriting readiness, self-care skills, play skills, attention, and functional independence.
- Identify developmental delays, functional limitations, and participation challenges affecting home, school, and community activities.
- Establish measurable therapy goals in collaboration with families and the multidisciplinary team.
Treatment Planning & Intervention
- Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on assessment findings and developmental goals.

- Recommend adaptive equipment, sensory strategies, environmental modifications, and assistive tools whenever appropriate.

Progress Monitoring & Documentation
- Monitor each child's progress using standardized assessments and functional outcome measures.
- Modify therapy goals and intervention plans based on developmental progress and clinical findings.
- Maintain accurate assessment reports, therapy notes, progress records, and clinical documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
- Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of patient information at all times.
Parent & Caregiver Education
- Educate parents and caregivers regarding therapy goals, developmental milestones, and home programmes.
- Demonstrate therapeutic activities and sensory strategies that can be continued at home.
- Guide families on adaptive techniques, environmental modifications, and the safe use of assistive devices where applicable.
- Encourage active family participation in achieving therapy goals.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Developmental Paediatricians, Paediatricians, Child Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Special Educators, Behaviour Therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary case discussions, treatment planning meetings, and parent counselling sessions.
- Coordinate with schools and teachers whenever required to support inclusive education and functional participation.
Professional Development & Quality
- Follow organizational policies, infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and professional ethical guidelines.
- Participate in continuing education programmes, workshops, seminars, and in-house training.
- Stay updated with current evidence-based occupational therapy practices, sensory integration techniques, and advances in paediatric rehabilitation.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and maintain high standards of clinical care.
QualificationsEssential
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy (BOT) from a recognized institution.
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT).
- Valid registration with the All India Occupational Therapists Association (AIOTA) or the relevant State Council, wherever applicable.
- Certification or training in Sensory Integration, Early Intervention, Autism Intervention, or Paediatric Occupational Therapy will be an added advantage.

- Good understanding of sensory integration, motor development, and developmental disorders.

- Strong observation, documentation, and report-writing skills.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.

- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment is desirable.
Experience
- Fresh graduates with successful internship completion are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with 1–3 years of experience in Child Development Centres, Early Intervention Centres, Paediatric Hospitals, Rehabilitation Centres, Inclusive Schools, or similar settings will be preferred.
- Experience in Sensory Integration Therapy, Autism Intervention, ADHD management, handwriting intervention, or early childhood development will be an added advantage.
Work Environment
The Occupational Therapist will work exclusively within the OMKILKARI Child Development Centre, providing individualized and group-based occupational therapy services for infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents with developmental, behavioural, sensory, and learning needs. The role involves close collaboration with families and a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, family-centred care that promotes independence, participation, and overall development.
