Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Foundry & Casting Operations
Location: Adityapur Industrial Area, Jamshedpur
Industry: Metal Casting / Foundry / Manufacturing
Reporting To: Managing Director / CEO
We are seeking an experienced and execution-focused Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and scale operations across our three casting manufacturing plants. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in foundry operations, manufacturing excellence, commercial understanding, operational transformation, and people leadership.
This role will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, profitability, production reliability, quality, safety, and strategic growth across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Lead end-to-end operations across all manufacturing plants including production, maintenance, quality, supply chain, planning, dispatch, and EHS.
- Drive plant performance through robust operational KPIs including productivity, OEE, yield, rejection reduction, OTIF delivery, and cost optimization.
- Standardize processes and operational governance across all units.
Manufacturing Excellence
- Implement best practices in foundry and casting operations including Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve plant efficiencies, reduce downtime, and optimize resource utilization.
- Lead automation, digitization, and process modernization initiatives.
Business & Financial Performance
- Own plant-level P&L performance and operational budgets.
- Work closely with finance and commercial teams to improve margins, inventory turns, working capital, and operational profitability.
- Support business expansion, capex planning, and strategic growth initiatives.
Quality & Customer Focus
- Ensure consistent adherence to quality systems and customer specifications.
- Drive reduction in defects, rework, customer complaints, and warranty issues.
- Collaborate with sales and customer teams to strengthen customer satisfaction and delivery reliability.
People & Culture
- Build high-performing leadership teams across plants.
- Develop succession planning, workforce capability, and performance-driven culture.
- Foster accountability, collaboration, and operational discipline.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards, statutory regulations, and company policies.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture across all facilities.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Production Engineering; MBA preferred.
- 18–25 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with significant exposure to foundry/casting industries.
- Proven experience managing multiple plants or large-scale manufacturing operations.
- Strong understanding of ferrous/non-ferrous casting processes, machining, maintenance, and industrial engineering.
- Demonstrated success in operational turnaround, productivity improvement, and cost optimization.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making capabilities.
- Exposure to ERP/MES systems and data-driven operational management preferred.
