We are seeking a passionate and customer-oriented Counter Salesman / Saleswoman to join our team. As the first point of contact for customers, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional service, assisting customers in selecting beautiful sarees, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in traditional and contemporary saree collections, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage customers with warmth and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Assistance:
- Greet and welcome customers as they enter the store, offering a friendly and helpful demeanor.
- Assist customers in selecting sarees based on their preferences, events, and budget.
- Provide detailed information about the sarees, including fabric, design, price, and care instructions.
- Offer personalized suggestions and styling advice, enhancing the customer’s shopping experience.
Sales Processing:
- Handle sales transactions at the counter, including cash, credit/debit card, and digital payment methods, using the store's point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Accurately package sarees and ensure that customers receive their purchases promptly and in perfect condition.
- Issue receipts, process exchanges, or returns if required, following store policies.
Product Knowledge & Display:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the different types of sarees (e.g., Mysore silk, cotton, chiffon, banarasi), fabric quality, weaving techniques, and trending styles.
- Keep the counter and display areas clean, well-organized, and stocked with the latest saree collections.
- Assist with the arrangement of sarees in aesthetically pleasing displays to attract customer interest.
Inventory & Stock Management:
- Monitor stock levels and inform the store manager when items need to be reordered.
- Participate in regular stock counts and help with inventory management tasks to ensure accuracy.
- Organize and label sarees in the stockroom to maintain efficient product retrieval.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build lasting relationships with customers by offering personalized service and remembering customer preferences for future visits.
- Follow up with customers regarding their orders or upcoming promotions, creating a loyal customer base.
- Address and resolve customer complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Sales Targets & Reporting:
- Achieve or exceed daily and monthly sales targets set by the store manager.
- Prepare daily sales reports and maintain accurate records of customer transactions.
Promotions & Events:
- Inform customers about ongoing promotions, sales, and special collections, helping to increase in-store sales.
- Assist during store events or promotions by providing exceptional service and helping with store preparations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in retail or fashion is a plus.
- Proven experience in retail sales, preferably in a saree or apparel store.
- Strong knowledge or interest in sarees, fabrics, and Indian ethnic wear.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and provide personalized service to customers.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems and handling cash/card transactions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, when required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in selling traditional sarees, including Mysore silk sarees.
- Fluent in local languages and English to communicate effectively with a diverse customer base.
- Ability to engage customers with a passion for Indian textiles and fashion.
