The Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing food processing and food machinery equipment as per technical drawings and specifications. The role requires mechanical precision, hygiene awareness, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Assemble and fit food machinery and processing equipment
- Align, adjust, and install mechanical components using hand tools and measuring instruments
- Install machinery at workshop or customer site as required
- Perform routine maintenance and breakdown repairs of food-grade machines
- Identify mechanical faults and carry out corrective actions
- Ensure proper alignment, lubrication, and tightening of components
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and quality standards during work
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean and good condition
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other technicians
- Follow company safety rules, procedures, and policies
Skills & Competencies
- Strong mechanical and technical knowledge
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments
- Basic knowledge of food machinery, hydraulics, and pneumatics (preferred)
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Attention to detail and cleanliness
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Fitter or Mechanical Trade
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in food machinery or industrial machinery
- Hands-on experience in assembly, installation, and maintenance of machinery
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and handle machinery components
- Ability to stand for long hours in a workshop or site environment
- Good hand-eye coordination
