The Woven Fabric Merchandiser is responsible for managing customer orders, fabric developments, sampling, costing, production follow-up, and on-time delivery. The role acts as a bridge between customers, design, weaving, processing, quality, and dispatch teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer & Order Management
- Handle inquiries from garment manufacturers, exporters, and buying houses.
- Understand customer requirements and develop suitable fabric options.
- Prepare quotations and negotiate prices.
- Follow up on order confirmations and delivery schedules.
- Maintain strong customer relationships.
Fabric Development
- Coordinate new fabric developments as per customer requirements.
- Work with design and production teams on:
- Construction
- Yarn count
- Reed & pick
- GSM
- Weave design
- Finishes
- Arrange sample yardages and approval submissions.
Production Coordination
- Track orders from yarn procurement to dispatch.
- Coordinate with:
- Weaving department
- Dyeing/Processing units
- Quality department
- Ensure production meets delivery commitments.
Costing & Planning
- Prepare fabric costing sheets.
- Calculate yarn consumption and process costs.
- Monitor margins and profitability.
- Assist in production planning and capacity allocation.
Quality Control
- Ensure fabrics meet customer specifications.
- Monitor quality issues such as:
- Shade variation
- Reed marks
- Missing ends
- Missing picks
- GSM variation
- Shrinkage issues
- Coordinate corrective actions with production teams.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain:
- Order status reports
- Sampling tracker
- Development tracker
- Delivery schedules
- Customer communication records
- Prepare weekly order review reports.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of woven fabric constructions and weaving processes.
- Understanding of yarn counts, reed, pick, GSM, and fabric costing.
- Knowledge of dyeing, printing, and finishing processes.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong Excel and reporting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple orders simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Diploma / Degree in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, or related field.
- 2–5 years experience in woven fabric merchandising preferred.

Pay: ₹10,804.07 - ₹20,000.00 per month
