Contract Manufacturing Manager
Job Summary
The Contract Manufacturing Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing relationships with external contract manufacturers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality production of products. This role acts as the primary liaison between internal teams and manufacturing partners, ensuring compliance, performance, and continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesContract Manufacturer Management
- Identify, qualify, and onboard contract manufacturing partners
- Manage day-to-day relationships with contract manufacturers
- Serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues
Production & Supply Chain
- Ensure production schedules align with demand forecasts
- Monitor capacity, lead times, and delivery performance
- Resolve supply, quality, and logistics issues proactively
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure contract manufacturers meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and corrective actions
- Review and approve quality documentation and change controls
Cost & Commercial Management
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Monitor manufacturing costs and drive cost-reduction initiatives
- Track KPIs related to cost, quality, and delivery
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Procurement, Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams
- Support product launches, transfers, and scale-up activities
- Manage engineering changes and technology transfers
Continuous Improvement
- Drive performance improvement initiatives with manufacturing partners
- Implement best practices in manufacturing efficiency and quality
- Assess and mitigate supply chain and manufacturing risks
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in B pharma ,M pharma
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred (optional)
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or operation
- Experience with supplier negotiations and performance management
Skills
- Strong project and stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to analyze KPIs and drive data-based decisions
