Job Summary
The Mechanical Maintenance Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring smooth operation of all mechanical equipment in a ductile iron foundry. The role focuses on minimizing breakdowns and ensuring continuous production of furnace, molding, sand plant, and material handling systems.
Key Responsibilities Breakdown Maintenance
- Attend breakdowns of foundry equipment such as:
- Induction furnaces (mechanical parts)
- Molding machines and molding lines
- Sand plant equipment
- Conveyors, shakeout, and cooling systems
- Quickly diagnose mechanical faults and restore machine operation.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled maintenance of all mechanical systems.
- Check bearings, shafts, gears, chains, belts, and couplings.
- Ensure proper lubrication, tightening, and alignment of machines.
- Reduce breakdown frequency through regular inspection.
Fitting & Assembly Work
- Carry out fitting, assembly, and dismantling of machine components.
- Alignment of motors, pumps, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
- Use hand tools and precision instruments for mechanical work.
Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems
- Maintain hydraulic systems in molding and core machines.
- Troubleshoot pneumatic systems, air compressors, cylinders, and valves.
- Ensure leak-free and efficient operation of systems.
Foundry Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain furnace charging systems, ladles, cranes, and conveyors.
- Support sand plant operations (mixers, classifiers, conveyors).
- Ensure smooth operation of molding and shakeout systems.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow strict foundry safety rules due to high-temperature operations.
- Use PPE (helmet, gloves, safety shoes, etc.).
- Maintain safe working practices and report hazards immediately.
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical fitting and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of machine components (bearings, gears, shafts, couplings).
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Ability to use measuring tools (vernier, micrometer, dial gauge).
- Ability to read mechanical drawings (preferred).
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
