About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Hardware Device Tester to join our QA team. You will be responsible for validating and verifying the functionality, reliability, and performance of electronic hardware devices before they reach production or end customers. This role sits at the intersection of hardware engineering and quality assurance, requiring both hands-on technical skills and a systematic testing mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Validation
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures for hardware devices including PCBs, embedded systems, and peripheral components.
- Component Screening & IQC: Design, establish, and execute systematic testing procedures (SOPs) for incoming electronic component batches (L, C, R, BJTs, MOSFETs, Diodes, ICs) utilizing statistical sampling standards.
- Perform functional, regression, stress, environmental, and compliance testing on hardware prototypes and production units.
- Validate device behavior against technical specifications, datasheets, and product requirements documents (PRDs).
- Electrical Measurements: Conduct highly accurate electrical characterizations using Digital Oscilloscopes, 4-Wire Kelvin Multimeters, Logic Analyzers, Programmable Electronic Loads, and LCR Meters (e.g., DE-5000).
Defect Management
- Identify, document, and track hardware defects and anomalies using bug-tracking tools.
- Work closely with hardware and firmware engineers to reproduce and root-cause failures.
- Verify fixes and perform re-testing after engineering changes.
Embedded & Firmware Testing
- Test firmware-hardware integration including communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232).
- Validate GPS/GNSS modules, cellular modems, sensors, and IoT peripherals where applicable.
- Test over-the-air (OTA) and wired firmware update (FOTA) mechanisms.
Compliance & Reliability
- Support certification testing (FCC, CE, AIS-140, BIS, or other applicable standards).
- Perform environmental and stress testing including temperature cycling, vibration, and ESD sensitivity testing.
- Maintain traceability between test cases and product requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed test reports, defect summaries, and sign-off documentation.
- Maintain test rigs, jigs, and lab equipment in working order.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and test automation.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in hardware testing, electronics QA, or embedded systems testing.
- Proficiency with lab instruments:Digital oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, power supplies,LCR meters,DE-5000,Kelvin tweezers/clips.
- Should have strong knowledge of passive electronic components (R,C,L) and their types and selection parameters.
- Having good knowledge about Transistors (BJT,MOSFET).
- Familiarity with communication protocols: UART, SPI, I2C, RS232, USB,CAN,MIPI-CSI.
- Strong familiarity with hardware standards ( IPC-A-610, ISO 9001quality workflows).
- Experience reading and interpreting schematics and PCB layouts.
- Strong documentation and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GPS/GNSS modules, cellular (2G/4G) modems, or IoT device testing.
- Knowledge of AIS-140 or telematics device certification (preferred for fleet/GPS industry).
- Exposure to FOTA testing and embedded firmware validation.
- Familiarity with SMT manufacturing processes and production-line testing (ICT/FCT).
- Scripting knowledge in Python or shell for test automation.
- Experience with ERP/PLM or bug-tracking tools (Jira, Redmine, etc.).
