Job Description
Thinvent designs and manufactures thin clients and embedded systems, which run on the Linux based Thinux Embedded OS that it develops in-house. The job of an application engineer is to make these products work for our new and existing customers. This involves giving demos of our products to customers, understanding their requirements, working with the R&D team to carry out modifications as per their needs. It also involves resolving customer issues by providing phone and on-site support. Finally, the FAE needs to work with our local distributors and the head office to resolve the hardware repairing issues of our customers. The FAE is expected to constantly update his or her knowledge of our products, and impart training to service and support engineers of our partner networks.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical demonstrations and presentations showcasing Thinvent’s products.
- Repair and troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based operating systems.
- Develop and maintain custom shell and Python scripts to automate tasks and streamline work.
- Collaborate with technical teams to resolve complex issues.
- Train customers, dealers and internal teams on the use, support, repair and maintenance of products or services.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to customers.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest technology trends and advancements.
- Maintain accurate records of technical demonstrations, repairs, and support activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a technical support or demo engineering role (5 years for diploma candidates).
- Strong technical background in Linux-based operating systems, computer hardware, and software repair.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, C, and Bash.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong oral communication skills in the regional language of the city you are working in.
