About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Lead Firmware Engineer to lead our Embedded Firmware and Embedded Hardware engineering teams while actively contributing to architecture, design, development, debugging, and technical problem-solving.
This is a technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in embedded systems, industrial automation, and firmware architecture. The ideal candidate will take end-to-end ownership of embedded firmware and hardware development for products such as Servo Drives, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Motion Controllers, Safety Drives, and Industrial Automation Solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership
- Lead embedded firmware and hardware architecture, design, and execution.
- Define technology roadmaps for embedded platforms, firmware frameworks, RTOS, and development toolchains.
- Drive architectural decisions considering performance, reliability, cybersecurity, manufacturability, quality, and cost.
- Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex engineering challenges.
Hands-on Engineering
- Review hardware architecture, schematics, PCB layouts, and firmware design.
- Participate in Embedded C development, code reviews, and firmware architecture discussions.
- Support hardware bring-up, prototype debugging, and root cause analysis.
- Debug systems using Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, JTAG, and SWD tools.
- Ensure scalable, maintainable, and high-quality firmware design.
Embedded Hardware
- Guide MCU/SoC-based hardware design, analog and digital circuits, power management, and protection.
- Review PCB layouts focusing on Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI), EMC, and EMI.
- Support component selection, reliability analysis, lifecycle management, verification, and validation.
Embedded Firmware
- Lead real-time Embedded C firmware development using RTOS or Bare-Metal architecture.
- Design and review drivers, bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, middleware, and communication stacks.
- Develop industrial communication protocols including EtherCAT, CAN, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and IO-Link.
- Implement Secure Boot, Secure Firmware Updates, Cryptography, and Cybersecurity best practices.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and coach Embedded Hardware and Firmware engineers.
- Conduct design reviews, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with Controls, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, Functional Safety, and Cybersecurity teams.
- Support hiring, onboarding, capability development, customer escalations, and technical audits.
Process & Quality
- Establish structured development processes, configuration management, documentation, and traceability.
- Drive engineering best practices, verification planning, and continuous improvement.
Mandatory Skills
- 12+ years of Embedded Firmware development.
- Strong Embedded C programming.
- RTOS and Bare-Metal firmware development.
- Bootloader development and firmware update mechanisms.
- MCU/SoC hardware design.
- Analog & Digital Circuits.
- Power Management.
- PCB Design Flow and Layout Reviews.
- EMC/EMI fundamentals.

- Domain expertise in Servo Drives, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Motion Controllers, Motion Control Systems, or Power Electronics.
Leadership Experience
- Technical Manager, Technical Lead, or System Architect.
- Managing teams of 4–6 engineers while remaining hands-on.
- Experience in architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Experience working with European and/or US customers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
