Job Title: Senior Chemist – Mineral Industry
Department: Quality Control / Laboratory / R&D

Reports To: Laboratory Manager / Quality Head
Position Summary
The Senior Chemist is responsible for conducting advanced chemical and mineralogical analyses of ores, minerals, concentrates, and related products. The role ensures compliance with quality standards, supports process optimization, supervises laboratory operations, and provides technical expertise for mineral processing and product development.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Analysis & Testing
- Perform chemical analysis of minerals, ores, concentrates, and finished products using standard laboratory techniques.
- Conduct wet chemical analysis, titrations, gravimetric analysis, and instrumental analysis.
- Operate and interpret results from analytical instruments such as:
- XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence)
- ICP-OES / ICP-MS
- AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy)
- UV-Visible Spectrophotometer
- XRD (X-Ray Diffraction)
- Particle Size Analyzers
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical data.
Quality Control & Assurance
- Develop and maintain laboratory quality procedures.
- Verify compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Monitor laboratory calibration, validation, and quality control samples.
- Investigate non-conforming results and recommend corrective actions.
Process Support
- Support mineral beneficiation and processing operations through chemical analysis and interpretation.
- Provide technical recommendations for improving recovery, grade, and process efficiency.
- Analyze process samples and prepare technical reports.
Laboratory Management
- Supervise chemists, laboratory technicians, and analysts.
- Plan daily laboratory activities and allocate resources effectively.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate preventive maintenance.
- Ensure proper inventory management of chemicals, reagents, and consumables.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Maintain proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare analytical reports and technical documentation.
- Maintain laboratory records, SOPs, and test methods.
- Present findings and recommendations to management and production teams.
Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related field.
- Ph.D. is an advantage.
- Additional certifications in analytical instrumentation or quality systems are preferred.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in mineral, mining, ceramics, refractory, silica, bentonite, kaolin, feldspar, limestone, or related industries.
- Strong experience with mineral testing laboratories and analytical instruments.
- Experience in laboratory accreditation systems (ISO/IEC 17025) preferred.
Technical Skills
- Mineral and ore characterization.
- Wet chemistry and instrumental analysis.
- Method development and validation.
- Statistical analysis and quality control techniques.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, LIMS, and laboratory reporting systems.
