Job Description : Embedded Hardware Design Engineer
Key Responsibility Areas:
1. Design and develop detailed electronic schematics and multilayer PCB layouts for complex embedded and industrial products, ensuring compliance with functional requirements, design rules, and layout constraints (power, signal integrity, thermal, and EMI/EMC) while working closely with system architects and hardware leads. Own the schematic–layout implementation cycle, including component selection and placement, routing, stack‑up definition, and design for manufacturing/test (DFM/DFT).
2. Perform in‑depth component assessment including datasheet reviews, derating analysis, failure‑mode and stress evaluations, and comparative trade‑offs; define component‑level specifications and EBOM.
3. Design and manage the end‑to‑end documentation, prototyping, and validation lifecycle for embedded and industrial products, including creating and maintaining technical specifications, test procedures, design records, and compliance documentation in line with company standards and regulatory requirements. Lead the development and assembly of engineering prototypes, define and execute validation and verification test plans (functional, environmental, reliability, and safety‑related)
4. Define the architecture and system‑level design of electronic hardware platforms, including defining high‑level block diagrams, selecting SoCs, FPGAs, power architectures, and peripheral interfaces, and establishing design constraints for performance, power, reliability, and manufacturability across product families.
Key Skills Required:
1. Analog and Digital Circuit Design: Proficiency in designing and analyzing analog and digital circuits.
2. Microcontrollers and Processors: Familiarity with different microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, AVR, PIC) and their architecture.
3. Power Electronics: Understanding power management circuits, including DC-DC converters, LDOs, and battery management.
4. PCB Design Tools: Proficiency in using tools like Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, or Eagle for schematic capture and PCB layout.
5. Signal Integrity: Knowledge of high-speed signal design principles, impedance matching, and minimizing EMI/EMC issues.2/1
6. Testing Equipment: Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other lab equipment.
7. Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to systematically diagnose and fix hardware issues.
8. Embedded Communication Protocols: Knowledge of protocols like UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet.
9. Firmware-Hardware Integration: Understanding of how firmware interacts with hardware and ability to work with firmware engineers.
10. Component Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electronic components, their specifications, and sourcing options.
11. Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Ability to create and manage BOMs with cost-effective and reliable components.
