Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by proactively monitoring and diagnosing issues across various critical business system components. This role requires dynamic problem-solving to ensure system stability and performance, collaborating with different teams to maintain seamless operations and swiftly address any disruptions that may impact business continuity. The position demands vigilance and adaptability to manage complex environments and deliver timely resolutions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.
- Own incidents from triage through resolution troubleshoot cluster failures, slot migration, replication lag, failover, memory fragmentation, and persistence (RDB/AOF) issues using redis-cli produce RCA and Post-Incident Reports within SLA conduct health assessments covering memory utilization, replication performance, cluster sizing, and keyspace growth deliver capacity planning recommendations maintain runbooks, playbooks, and KB articles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot cluster failures, forest corruption, replication lag, merge issues, and journal-related problems.
- Administer and maintain enterprise forests, databases, and E-node, D-node, and A-node replication environments.
- Monitor and ensure replication health, data consistency, and system availability across distributed environments.
- Manage Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), user permissions, security configurations, and audit compliance.
- Perform database backups, restores, disaster recovery validation, and data protection activities.
- Monitor system performance and operational health using Admin UI, Grafana, Splunk, and Nagios.
- Analyze logs, alerts, and metrics to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure and application issues.
- Plan and execute rolling patch upgrades and maintenance activities with minimal downtime and business impact.
- Develop, update, and maintain operational runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base documentation.
- Manage incident, service request, problem, and change tickets through ServiceNow and Jira.
- -Coordinate with Progress Software (vendor) and internal infrastructure teams for issue resolution, upgrades, and technical support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex production issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Support high-availability and disaster recovery environments while maintaining service level agreements (SLAs).
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) activities and implement preventive measures to improve system stability and reliability.
- Ensure adherence to operational, security, and compliance standards across all managed environments.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Redis Architecture, Cluster Management, Replication, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, redis-cli, RCA, Incident Management, Capacity Planning, Security, Performance Tuning.
- Good To Have Skills: Experience with Marklogic, MarkLogic Administration, Cluster Management, Replication, RBAC, Performance Tuning, Patch Management, ServiceNow, Jira, Grafana, Splunk, RCA, Backup and Recovery
- Strong troubleshooting skills to analyze and resolve complex software and system issues.
- Ability to work with distributed systems and understand their interdependencies.
- Experience in monitoring tools and techniques to ensure system health and performance.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
