A Folding Die Setter sets up, adjusts, and maintains specialized dies and folding machinery to shape, fold, or crease materials (typically paper, cardboard, or plastics) to precise specifications. They install tools, troubleshoot machinery, inspect first-off samples, and ensure safety standards, often requiring technical skills, blueprint reading, and mechanical aptitude.
- Die Installation: Install and align folding/die-cutting dies in presses, ensuring bolsters and dies are clean and properly aligned.
- Machine Setup: Calculate and adjust press shut height, feeder settings, part ejectors, and scrap removal systems.
- Troubleshooting & Adjustments: Adjust dies during production to meet quality standards and troubleshoot,repair, or replace worn or damaged equipment.
- Material Handling: Load materials, thread coils/paper into machines, and manage material feeding systems.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect first-article parts, check for proper folding or creases, and perform maintenance on tools.
