Job Summary
The Business Development & Marketing Professional will be responsible for driving business growth, securing long-term handling contracts, and expanding the company’s market share in the bulk cargo sector. This role involves proactive lead generation, strategic relationship management with shippers, miners, traders, and end-users, and ensuring smooth coordination between clients and internal operations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Business Development & Client Acquisition
- Lead Generation & Prospecting: Identify and target potential clients, including mining companies, trading houses, steel plants, Power & Cement plants, and industrial manufacturers requiring bulk material handling. • Market Expansion: Develop new cargo volume opportunities and increase cargo throughput across port facilities, inland depots, or rail sidings. • Client Meetings & Pitching: Conduct cold calling, field marketing, and professional site visits to engage with procurement managers and logistics heads to secure contracts. • Proposal Management: Independently prepare and deliver techno-commercial proposals, cargo handling agreements, and competitive freight/handling rate quotations. • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate and close long-term handling contracts (e.g., Cargo Handling Agreements, COA - Contract of Affreightment).
2. Marketing & Strategic Planning
- Market Research: Conduct market intelligence on commodity prices (coal/iron ore), ocean freight trends, and competitive activities to identify new market opportunities.• Branding & Promotion: Promote company services via industry trade shows, conferences, and targeted digital marketing campaigns (LinkedIn/Industry forums).• Strategic Planning: Assist senior management in identifying, developing, or evaluating marketing strategies based on company goals.• Relationship Management: Cultivate a robust client base by fostering relationships of trust, transparency, and reliability.
3. Operational Coordination & Reporting
- Internal & Customer Service Coordination: Work closely with operations, port planning, and logistics teams to ensure service execution aligns with client promises.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in Marketing/Business Development within bulk cargo, port logistics, stevedoring, shipping lines, or commodity trading.• Knowledge: Deep understanding of dry bulk cargo, logistics, terminal operations, Incoterms, and handling procedures for coal/minerals.• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (MBA preferred).• Communication: Exceptional negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹65,000.00 per month
