The Area Sales Manager for Modern Trade (MT) will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing key modern trade accounts, and leading a team of sales professionals within a designated geographical area. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of the modern retail landscape, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies and plans specifically for modern trade channels to achieve and exceed sales targets (volume, value, distribution, and visibility).
- Manage and nurture relationships with key modern trade accounts, including supermarkets, hypermarkets, and organized retail chains, ensuring strong partnerships and business growth.
- Negotiate annual trade agreements, promotional calendars, pricing, and listing terms with modern trade buyers and category managers.
- Lead, motivate, train, and manage a team of sales executives or merchandisers, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring effective execution of sales plans.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior within the modern trade segment to identify new opportunities and threats.
- Ensure optimal product placement, merchandising standards, and stock availability across all modern trade outlets.
- Analyze sales data, market share, and profitability reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, supply chain, and finance departments to align sales strategies with overall business objectives and ensure smooth operations.
- Manage trade budgets and expenses effectively, ensuring optimal return on investment for promotional activities.
- Identify and onboard new modern trade accounts to expand the company's distribution footprint.
- Prepare regular sales forecasts and performance reports for senior management.
