We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Owner to join our Grid Automation Portfolio Development team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering innovative software solutions for substation automation. You will work at the intersection of business strategy, customer needs, and technical execution, ensuring our products meet market demands and contribute to the evolution of modern grid infrastructure.
A typical day for the Product Owner of Substation Automation Software is a dynamic blend of strategic oversight and hands-on execution. Your morning often begins with a daily scrum with your agile development team, clarifying user stories for complex features like IEC 61850 implementations or cybersecurity requirements. The rest of the morning might be spent engaging with global stakeholders, from gathering customer feedback on a new prototype to collaborating with the service team on deployment pain points. You could be immersed in backlog grooming, meticulously prioritizing upcoming features and assessing technical feasibility with lead engineers, or preparing for an upcoming sprint review to showcase delivered value. Throughout the day, you'll dedicate time to continuous learning through market research on smart grid technologies and competitor analysis, while also fostering seamless integration points by syncing with other Product Owners within the broader Grid Automation Portfolio.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Manage and groom the product backlog, ensuring it is well-defined, prioritized, and ready for development sprints aligning with the overall grid automation portfolio strategy and company objectives.
- Technical consulting to the others inc. partners, internal stakeholders and customers
- Translate strategic goals into actionable product initiatives and epics.
- Gather, analyze, and prioritize detailed product requirements from various stakeholders (customers, sales, engineering, service, regulatory bodies).
- Define user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases, ensuring clarity and completeness for the development team.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the agile development teams.
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives) to provide guidance and clarify requirements.
- Monitor development progress, address impediments, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.
- Validate developed features against defined requirements and ensure they meet acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate closely with other Product Owners within the Grid Automation Portfolio to ensure seamless integration and alignment across the portfolio.
- Gather feedback post-launch and iterate on product improvements based on customer usage and market response.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Several years of professional experience in engineering of HMI/ SCADA systems for control systems and energy transmission & distribution
- Deep knowledge in HMI software applications and Substation Automation software like WinCC, Zenon, ZEE600, SICAM PAS, SICAM A8000 or similar. Knowledge of different vendors solutions is advantage
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as applied to critical infrastructure.
- Certifications in Product Ownership (e.g., CSPO, PSPO) or Agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with modern grid automation concepts, smart grid technologies, and industry trends.
- Proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to balance technical details with strategic business objectives.
- Proactive, self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Fluency in English (additional languages, especially German, are a plus).
