Job Summary
The OT Scrub Nurse is responsible for assisting surgeons and the surgical team during operative procedures by preparing and maintaining sterile instruments, equipment, and operation theatre protocols to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the operation theatre before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Arrange and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables.
- Assist surgeons during surgeries by providing required instruments and materials.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection control practices in the OT.
- Ensure proper counting of surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before and after procedures.
- Monitor the sterility of surgical instruments and OT environment.
- Assist in patient preparation and positioning before surgery.
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and OT technicians for smooth surgical procedures.
- Handle biomedical waste disposal as per hospital protocols.
- Maintain OT records, surgical supplies, and inventory.
- Ensure patient safety and confidentiality at all times.
Qualification
- B.Sc Nursing or ANM
- Valid Nursing Registration Certificate
Experience
- Minimum 0–1 years of experience in Operation Theatre preferred.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and OT procedures
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Knowledge of sterilization and infection control practices
- Basic emergency handling skills
