Job Title: API Gateway Migration Engineer (WSO2 to Kong) Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced engineer to lead and execute the migration from WSO2 API Manager to Kong API Gateway. This role involves re-architecting API management capabilities, ensuring seamless transition of APIs, policies, and security configurations while improving performance and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- To Build a Migration engine using Java spring boot to convert all the WS02 resources to KONG resources (Services , Plugin , etc)
- Analyze existing WSO2 API Manager implementations (APIs, policies, gateways, workflows)
- Design and implement migration strategy to Kong API Gateway
- Migrate APIs, endpoints, and configurations with minimal downtime
- Recreate and optimize:
- API policies (rate limiting, throttling, transformations)
- Security configurations (OAuth2, JWT, API keys)
- Implement Kong plugins for traffic control, logging, authentication, and observability
- Develop automation scripts/tools for migration and validation
- Ensure backward compatibility and smooth consumer transition
- Perform testing:
- Functional testing
- Performance/load testing
- Security validation
- Integrate Kong with:
- Identity providers (Keycloak, Okta, etc.)
- Monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD pipeline integration
- Document migration processes, architecture, and best practices
Required Skills & QualificationsAPI Management
- Strong experience with:
- WSO2 API Manager (publisher, gateway, developer portal)
- Kong API Gateway (OSS or Enterprise)
- Deep understanding of:
- RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- API lifecycle management
Security
- Hands-on experience with:
- OAuth2, OpenID Connect
- JWT token validation
- API key management
- Understanding of Zero Trust principles
Development & Scripting
- Proficiency in one or more:
- Python, Node.js, or Java springboot
- Experience with:
- REST APIs and automation scripting
- YAML/JSON configurations
DevOps & Cloud
- Experience with:
- Docker and Kubernetes
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kong plugins (custom plugin development is a plus)
- Experience in high-scale API platforms
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm)
- Prior experience in large-scale API gateway migrations

Pay: ₹360,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
