Job Summary
The Chemist will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of raw water, treated water, and finished packaged drinking water. The role involves conducting chemical and microbiological-related quality checks, maintaining laboratory records, ensuring compliance with applicable quality standards, and supporting the production team in maintaining consistent water quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and test raw water, treated water, and finished product samples at specified intervals.
- Conduct routine chemical and physical analysis of water, including pH, TDS, hardness, alkalinity, chloride, turbidity, etc.
- Monitor water treatment processes such as filtration, RO, UV, ozonation, and disinfection.
- Check and maintain appropriate levels of chlorine/ozone and other treatment parameters as applicable.
- Ensure that water quality meets the required BIS/FSSAI and internal quality specifications.
- Maintain proper laboratory records, test reports, sample registers, and calibration records.
- Identify deviations in test results and immediately report them to the Quality/Plant Manager.
- Assist in investigating the root cause of quality deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory reagents.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment as per schedule.
- Ensure proper sampling procedures and prevent sample contamination.
- Monitor the hygiene and sanitation standards of the plant and laboratory.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams regarding water-quality-related issues.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable BIS standards, FSSAI requirements, environmental regulations, and company SOPs.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory quality audits and inspections.
- Maintain proper documentation of non-conformities, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and ensure safe handling of chemicals.
Educational Qualification
- B.Sc. Chemistry / M.Sc. Chemistry preferred.
- Candidates with qualifications in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines may also be considered depending on the plant's requirements.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience required.
- Experience in a water treatment plant, packaged drinking water plant, food/beverage industry, or quality-control laboratory preferred.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
