Master in Surgery (MS) — Job Description
A Master in Surgery (MS) graduate is a postgraduate medical professional trained in the diagnosis, surgical management, and postoperative care of patients with surgical conditions. The role involves evaluating patients, performing and assisting in surgical procedures, managing emergencies, and providing comprehensive perioperative care.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine patients and diagnose surgical conditions.
- Develop appropriate surgical and treatment plans.
- Perform surgical procedures independently according to specialization and level of experience.
- Assist senior surgeons in complex and major surgeries.
- Conduct preoperative assessments and obtain informed consent.
- Provide postoperative monitoring and manage complications.
- Handle surgical emergencies and provide appropriate immediate care.
- Prescribe medications and order relevant laboratory and imaging investigations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and surgical documentation.
- Coordinate with anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in clinical rounds, case discussions, teaching, and medical research.
- Follow hospital protocols, ethical standards, and infection-control practices.
