Job Summary
The Tool Setter is responsible for mould setting, mould changeover, machine setup, parameter setting, and trial support in a Plastic Injection Moulding plant. The role ensures smooth production operations by setting moulds, supporting startup activities, monitoring process conditions, and coordinating with production, maintenance, and tool room teams.
Key Responsibilities
Mould Setting & Changeover
- Set injection moulds on machines as per production plan
- Perform mould mounting, alignment, clamping, and removal
- Carry out mould changeover activities within target setup time
- Ensure mould connections for water, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Machine Setup
- Set machine parameters according to product and material requirements
- Verify machine readiness before production start
- Adjust process settings for stable production
- Support startup and first-off approval
Process Monitoring
- Monitor machine parameters during startup
- Ensure cycle time, product quality, and machine performance
- Support troubleshooting during process issues
- Coordinate with production team during changeovers
Trial Support
- Attend mould trials for new and modified moulds
- Set mould and machine parameters during trials
- Support process optimization
- Record trial observations and communicate issues to relevant teams
Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate with tool room for mould maintenance requirements
- Identify mould issues during setup
- Support preventive maintenance activities
- Report abnormalities to supervisor
Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI in Plastic Technology
- 3 to 6 years of experience in Plastic Injection Moulding as a tool setter
- Experience in mould setting and process support
