Job Title: Yard Manager – Heavy Engineering
Job Summary:
The Yard Manager is responsible for managing and supervising all yard operations related to heavy engineering equipment, machinery, fabricated materials, raw materials, and dispatch activities. The role ensures smooth movement, storage, maintenance coordination, risk management, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day yard operations involving heavy engineering equipment and materials
Supervise loading, unloading, stacking, storage, and dispatch of heavy fabricated structures, raw materials, and machinery
Monitor movement and availability of heavy equipment such as cranes, hydra, forklifts, loaders, trailers, excavators, and material handling systems
Coordinate with production, maintenance, stores, logistics, and dispatch departments for smooth operations
Ensure preventive maintenance and breakdown coordination of heavy machinery and yard equipment
Maintain inventory records of machinery, spare parts, tools, and materials in the yard
Monitor yard space utilization for efficient material handling and storage planning
Identify operational risks and implement effective risk management strategies to prevent accidents, equipment failure, delays, and material damage
Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and ensure mitigation plans for heavy machinery operations and yard activities
Ensure adherence to safety standards, PPE compliance, and statutory guidelines within the yard premises
Supervise operators, supervisors, drivers, and yard workforce for productivity and discipline
Prepare daily MIS reports related to equipment utilization, fuel consumption, downtime, dispatch, and manpower performance
Ensure proper housekeeping, security, and operational discipline within the yard
Handle emergency situations and implement corrective/preventive actions for operational improvement
Required Qualifications:
Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
5–10 years of experience in yard management within heavy engineering, steel, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial sectors
Strong knowledge of heavy machinery operations, risk management, and material handling systems
Knowledge of industrial safety norms, hazard control, and compliance requirements
