Job Summary :-
The R&D Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and industrializing manufacturing processes for industrial knives and blades. The role focuses on process development, machine selection, tooling evaluation, product improvement, and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies to achieve quality, productivity, cost, and performance objectives. The engineer will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :-
Research & Development
Design and develop manufacturing processes for industrial knives, machine blades, slitter blades, shear blades, granulator blades, and specialty cutting tools.
Conduct research on blade materials, heat treatment processes, coatings, edge geometries, and wear-resistant technologies.
Develop new products and improve existing blade designs based on customer requirements and market trends.
Perform feasibility studies and process validation for new products and manufacturing methods.
Process Development :-
Establish and optimize manufacturing routes from raw material to finished blade.
Develop process parameters for machining, grinding, heat treatment, straightening, lapping, polishing, coating, and inspection operations.
Prepare process flow diagrams, control plans, work instructions, and manufacturing standards.
Conduct process capability studies and implement improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
Machine Selection & Industrialization :-
Evaluate and select suitable machines for blade manufacturing operations, including:
CNC Milling Machines
CNC Turning Centers
Surface Grinding Machines
Cylindrical Grinding Machines
Polishing and Finishing Equipment
Inspection and Measurement Systems
Qualifications :-
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field.
Master's Degree preferred for advanced R&D positions.
Experience :-
3–8 years of experience in blade manufacturing, cutting tools, industrial knives, metalworking, or precision engineering industries.
Experience in process development and machine selection for manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of steel metallurgy, heat treatment, grinding technology, and precision machining is preferred.
Technical Skills :-
Strong understanding of blade manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of CNC machining, grinding technologies, heat treatment, and surface engineering.
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent).
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
