Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and publish accurate periodic financial statements (income statements, cash flow, and balance sheets).
- Bookkeeping & Reconciliation: Manage the general ledger, process accounts payable/receivable, and reconcile bank and credit card statements.
- Compliance & Tax: Compute taxes, prepare tax returns, and ensure compliance with local and federal regulations (e.g., GAAP or IFRS standards).
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist management in developing operational budgets, tracking expenses, and reporting variances.
- Auditing: Conduct internal audits and provide required documentation and assistance during external audits.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting and financial software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Xero, or Tally, as well as advanced spreadsheet capabilities (e.g., Pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Analytical Mindset: High attention to detail with the ability to identify numerical errors, spot discrepancies, and manage complex quantitative data.
- Education & Credentials: Typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or commerce. Advanced certifications like Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) are highly preferred for career advancement.
