Floor Service & Maintenance Technician
Position Summary
The Floor Service & Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out routine maintenance,
diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle servicing activities as per workshop standards. The role requires
strong technical knowledge, accurate fault diagnosis, quality workmanship, and adherence to
safety and operational procedures to ensure customer satisfaction and vehicle reliability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Basic Service Operations
- Perform periodic vehicle servicing as per manufacturer recommendations.
- Replace engine oil, oil filters, air filters, cabin filters, and fuel filters.
- Inspect fluid levels and top up as required.
- Conduct general vehicle health checks.
- Ensure service quality and cleanliness during execution.
2. Major Service Operations
- Execute comprehensive maintenance services including all inspection points.
- Replace wear-and-tear components as required.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities.
- Identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all service checklists are completed accurately.
3. Engine & Gearbox Repairs
- Diagnose engine and transmission-related issues.
- Perform engine repair, overhaul, and component replacement activities.
- Carry out gearbox inspection, repair, and maintenance work.
- Test vehicle performance after repairs.
- Maintain quality standards during assembly and installation.
4. Suspension System Repairs
- Inspect suspension components for wear and damage.
- Repair or replace shock absorbers, struts, control arms, bushes, and related
components.
- Identify abnormal noises and handling issues.
- Ensure proper suspension functionality and vehicle stability.
5. Brake System Repairs
- Diagnose braking system concerns.
- Replace brake pads, brake shoes, discs, drums, and hydraulic components.
- Bleed and service brake systems.
- Verify braking performance and safety standards after repairs.6. Clutch System Repairs
- Diagnose clutch-related complaints.
- Repair or replace clutch assemblies and associated components.
- Inspect hydraulic and mechanical clutch systems.
- Ensure smooth clutch operation after repairs.
- 7. Vehicle Diagnosis & Problem Identification
- Accurately identify customer-reported concerns.
- Conduct systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Prepare diagnostic findings and recommend repair actions.
- Minimize repeat repairs through effective fault identification.
- 8. Electrical & Wiring Diagnosis
- Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate tools and procedures.
- Inspect wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, relays, and control modules.
- Repair wiring issues, short circuits, and connectivity faults.
- Verify proper functioning of electrical systems after repairs.
- 9. Diagnostic Scanner Handling
- Operate OEM and multi-brand diagnostic scanner tools.
- Read and interpret fault codes.
- Perform system scanning, live data analysis, coding, and resets where applicable.
- Generate diagnostic reports and support troubleshooting activities.
- 10. Workshop Operations & Compliance
- Follow workshop processes, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in proper condition.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and housekeeping standards.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Support workshop productivity and timely vehicle delivery.
- Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of automobile mechanical systems.
- Good understanding of engine, transmission, suspension, brake, and clutch systems.
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting capability.
- Electrical and wiring fault-finding skills.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic scanner tools.
- Ability to read service manuals and technical documents.
- Attention to detail and quality-focused approach.
- Teamwork and workshop discipline.
- Time management and task prioritization skills.
